Northern Purpose is back! We are extremely excited to announce our next instalment of parties and podcasts.
NP38 | Newman
The team took a brief sabbatical due to geographical reasons, but circumstances have worked in our favour and we are pleased to announce the Northern Purpose show is on the road again – along with an additional resident. Our ethos stays the same, we look to showcase the best underground talent from across the globe through our London based parties and our podcast series.
To kick off the podcast series again, we introduce our new resident Danny Newman. The youngest of the NP collective, Danny’s music taste evolved after his move to London in 2010. This opened up his ears to a wider spectrum of House/Techno/Electro, with his sound ranging from the deep & dubby through to a more functional, dance floor orientated sound.
Hope you enjoy.
NP37 | Life Recorder
Originally known as Kriss Kortz born and raised in Geneva’s suburbs he is now based in Marseille, south of France. Remaining in a constant learning mode one of Life Recorder’s focuses is to keep a constant relation between music and life. His passion playing records kicked off in 1996/97, his music production started in 2005 with his 1st tracks releasing on French label ‘Code 316 Recordings’. Today his explorations continue to mature with every step, releases on labels like Atmospheric Existence, Troubled Kids Records, Snapshot and the strongly supported 4 track EP on Detroit based label Aesthetic Audio. His most recent release on Bokhari delivers quality in every sense “Toms of Times” is a mix of melodic but emotional elements with subtle acid lines. “Mood Track” gives us a sexy dose of deep acid funk with a proper rump shaker of a bassline. Enjoy the mix and see what Life Recorder is all about.
NP36 Ka One & St-Sene
NP36 comes in two parts from Parisian DJ/ producers Ka One & St-Sene who run the newly set up Flyance Records label with their good friend Janeret.
Their productions focus on the deeper side of house and techno. Flyance Records will combine the dark depths of deep house to hypnotic acid and will always follow a techno beat, Cycles Vol. 1 is a prime example of all these elements put together. For their next label outing Ka One & St-Sene will combine together as a duo and will then take this into a live set some time soon. In the mixes both guys wanted to show NP their deeper side.

NP35 | Miles Atmospheric
NP is back with 2 hrs of groove driven, hypnotic warmth from British born / based artist Miles Atmospheric. Miles has gained much respect as a DJ / producer over the last decade with recent releases on Keith Worthys ‘Aesthetic Audio’, ‘Ornate Music’ and Kirk Degiorgio’s ‘Applied Rhythmic Technology’ as well as heading up his own ‘Atmospheric Existence Recordings’. The label kicked off in 2009 with as a vision for his own solo productions and carefully selected guest artists, ‘Introspective Soul EP’ (AER001) instantly grabbed the intention of many. Miles started DJing out in 1997 with former residencies at Turnmills London / Concorde2 in Brighton and more recent guest performances at Glade festival and the much loved DJ / producer’s festival Freerotaion.
We are very pleased to have Miles on board here at NP and hope you enjoy the ride.

NP34 | Jordan
Jordan is a fresh new face in New York dance music circles but is also one that is sure to get more attention very soon. Relocating from the Midwest a few years ago, Jordan has applied his d’n'b-sharpened DJ skills to the modern breed of deep techno, house and bass music that’s spearheaded NYC’s underground electronic renaissance. The result is an impeccable mixing technique combined with excellent taste that’s no doubt been informed by years of working at Brooklyn’s Halcyon The Shop. Outside of DJing, Jordan is also honing his unique production style, which has already manifested itself with a track for C.O.M.E. compilation on Fred P’s label Soul People Music under the alias JD. He also founded the event series Artifact with Taimur Agha and Sophie Hirsch which premiered with a showcase of Latency Recordings in Brooklyn. It is a conceptual event that is “merging immersive music and immersive space so tightly that they’re no longer separate.” Keep your eyes peeled this fall for the next installment of Artifact and future music projects from Jordan.
