Knoxville native Will Azada delivers our next episode. Label owner of Proper Trax established in 2011 as a forward thinking label based on the blueprints of house and techno. Will’s productions use a variety of techniques with a stylistic approach, incorporating classic methods, analogue hardware with modern digital software and sound design. He also embraces sampling and live jamming. Will made a significant impact with the release of “Let’s Get Tight” on the second Proper Trax 12″ at the end of 2011, this was followed in 2012 with three heavily supported releases spanning the range of techno and house on Woods N Bass, Mystical Disco, and most notably the first solo twelve “Strictly Heat” on Proper Trax. Upcoming confirmed releases for summer and fall 2012 include EPs for Cubera, Slapp Jaxx, and Finale Sessions. Next for Proper Trax is a split EP recruiting two tracks each from Nashville-based Grey People and Tampa’s Chris Mitchell of Vanguard Sound.
Will said the mix was made with the deeper sensibilities of NP’s listeners in mind, while providing a cross-section of tough, tracky rhythms, body-moving bass, and relentless hooks. “My favorite DJ’s tend to be unafraid of crossing genre boundaries, contrasting the light with the dark, and I try my best to live up to their legacies without blandly imitating”.
